Linus put in a strong recovery to eventually take home a P4 finish at Road America, following a long wait in the pits before the red-flagged race returned to green…
After the race was initially halted on lap 10 of 20 following an accident which required lengthy catch fence repairs, the restart finally took place after the INDYCAR Grand Prix had finished.
Linus immediately made the most of his opportunities as others faltered to shoot from P8 into P4, and set about chasing Hunter McElrea hard for the final podium slot.
The duo battled side by side in a couple of dramatic moments on the closing laps, Linus visibly quicker, but McElrea held firm to lock out an all-Andretti Autosport podium.
With P4, however, Linus maintains an almost unaltered championship lead, going from 84 points clear before the weekend to 82 ahead at its conclusion.
LINUS: ”A good way to end this weekend, which has been quite special, and good damage limitation. To go from P8 to P4 in the second half of the race is great, and I came very close to taking third off Hunter. He defended hard – I think a bit too hard at times, to be honest – but it is what it is and I’m still satisfied with fourth given the circumstances.
“We continue to have a healthy lead in the championship and the pace has been there throughout, so all smiles on this side of the garage.”
