Linus has qualified in third on the grid for Sunday’s concluding Indy Lights race of the weekend at Mid-Ohio, trailing Andretti Autosport pair Danial Frost and Kyle Kirkwood as best of the rest.
After taking fourth yesterday in Qualifying 1, Linus went one better in the second grid-deciding session on Saturday, edging ahead of Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports team-mate David Malukas on row two.
Linus wound up 0.382s shy of Frost’s pole position benchmark, and two-and-a-half tenths behind Kirkwood.
The outcome will see all three main title protagonists – Kirkwood, Linus and Malukas – line up alongside each other in Race 2 tomorrow.
In fifth and sixth, Devlin DeFrancesco and Robert Megennis made it all four Andretti Autosport cars in the top six, although a couple of tenths down on the GRG/HMD pair.
LINUS:
“P3 is OK, one better than yesterday, but we don’t quite seem to have the pace of the guys in front. I thought my lap was decent enough but we’re still a fair bit behind, so there is some work to do before the races. I am confident we can race strongly, though, although it’s difficult to overtake around here. I’ll have my eyes set on the podium.”
Race 1 of the weekend gets underway at 4.30 pm / 22.30.
